In hockey, the five hole is the gap between a goaltender's legs—the fifth of five standard target areas on a goalie.
Scoring through the five hole is often considered embarrassing for the goaltender: He slipped one through the five hole.
The term sometimes extends to vulgar slang for the space between anyone's legs.
