placental mammals
Womb-nourished offspring bearers
Placental mammals are mammals whose young develop inside the mother's uterus, nourished through a placenta until birth.
This distinguishes them from marsupials, which carry undeveloped young in pouches, and monotremes, which lay eggs.
Placental mammals include humans, whales, bats, rodents, and most familiar mammals.
The technical term is eutherians.
