pixel pet
Virtual screen companion
A pixel pet is a virtual creature rendered in simple, blocky graphics that the owner feeds, plays with, and cares for.
The term covers both physical devices like Tamagotchis and digital versions in games or apps.
Neglecting a pixel pet typically results in its death or departure: I forgot about my pixel pet and it died while I was at school.
