pinewood derby
Cub Scout competition
A pinewood derby is a racing competition, typically for Cub Scouts, in which participants build small wooden cars from kits and race them down sloped tracks.
The cars are carved from blocks of pine wood and powered only by gravity.
The event emphasizes craftsmanship alongside competition: My son and I spent weeks working on his pinewood derby car.
