pikers

Small-time gamblers, slang

Pikers are people who do things in a small, timid, or cheap way.

The term is mildly contemptuous, suggesting someone who won't take risks or commit fully: Don't be such pikers—order the good wine.

In Australian and New Zealand usage, a piker is specifically someone who backs out of plans or avoids their share of responsibility.

The word can also describe petty gamblers who only bet small amounts.

The real investors dismissed them as pikers who weren't serious about the deal.
