people smuggling
Illegal border transport
People smuggling is the illegal transportation of individuals across international borders, typically for profit.
Unlike human trafficking, people smuggling generally involves willing participants who pay to be moved—often migrants seeking to enter countries where legal entry is difficult or impossible.
The smuggled may face dangerous conditions: Dozens died in a people smuggling operation when the truck's refrigeration failed.
