pastiches

Derivative homage works

Pastiches are works that imitate the style of another artist, genre, or period.

A pastiche may be a tribute or exercise in technique rather than parody—a composer writing in the style of Bach, a novelist channeling Hemingway.

The term can also describe works assembled from borrowed elements: The film was a pastiche of noir conventions.

Unlike parody, pastiche typically honors rather than mocks its source.
