partisan vote
Loyalty over substance
A partisan vote is one in which legislators vote along party lines rather than individual judgment or bipartisan consensus.
The term often carries negative connotations, suggesting loyalty to party over principle: The bill passed on a strictly partisan vote, with every Republican voting yes and every Democrat voting no.
In highly polarized legislatures, partisan votes have become the norm rather than the exception.
