parole eligibility
Early freedom threshold
Parole eligibility is the point at which a prisoner qualifies to be considered for early release under supervision.
Sentences often specify a minimum term before parole eligibility: He was sentenced to life with parole eligibility after twenty-five years.
Being eligible doesn't guarantee release—only that the parole board will review the case.
