parlour-game

Drawing room entertainment

A parlour-game is a game played indoors, typically in a home setting, requiring little or no equipment—word games, charades, twenty questions, and the like.

The term evokes Victorian and Edwardian social gatherings where guests entertained themselves before television.

Now somewhat old-fashioned, it often appears figuratively to suggest something trivial or unserious: Diplomacy isn't a parlour-game.
