parent-teacher conference
Academic progress discussion
A parent-teacher conference is a scheduled meeting between a student's parent or guardian and their teacher to discuss the child's academic progress, behavior, and development.
These meetings typically occur once or twice per school year, though they may be requested when concerns arise: The teacher called a parent-teacher conference after noticing a drop in grades.
The term is standard in American English; British English prefers parents' evening.
