paralegals
Attorneys' support staff
Paralegals are legal professionals who assist lawyers but aren't licensed to practice law themselves.
They research case law, draft documents, organize files, and interview clients—substantive legal work that stops short of giving legal advice or representing clients in court.
Also called legal assistants, though paralegal suggests more specialized training.
