pâte de verre
Molded glass technique
Pâte de verre is a glassmaking technique in which crusite glass is ground to a paste, packed into a mold, and kiln-fired until the particles fuse.
The French term means "glass paste." The result has a distinctive granular, translucent quality different from blown or cast glass.
The technique dates to ancient Egypt and was revived by French Art Nouveau craftsmen.
