overplant
Crowd the garden
To overplant is to plant too much of something—more crops than a field can support, more seedlings than will survive, or more flowers than a garden bed needs.
Farmers sometimes overplant intentionally, expecting to thin later or lose some to pests.
The term also describes planting too densely: We overplanted the tomatoes and had to pull half of them.
