overcoach

Too much guidance

To overcoach is to provide excessive instruction or guidance, especially in sports, to the point of hindering natural performance or instinct.

A player who's been overcoached may overthink simple movements: She was so overcoached she couldn't just swing the bat anymore.

The term extends beyond athletics to parenting, management, or any context where too much direction becomes counterproductive.
