overbank
Past the banks
Overbank describes water, sediment, or flooding that spills beyond a river's normal channel onto the adjacent floodplain: overbank deposits, overbank flooding.
The term appears mainly in geology, hydrology, and environmental science.
As a verb in aviation, to overbank is to exceed the normal angle of bank in a turn.
