over-and-under

Vertically arranged barrels

An over-and-under is a firearm—typically a shotgun—with two barrels stacked vertically rather than side by side: He brought his over-and-under for the skeet shoot.

The design allows a narrower profile for aiming.

The term also describes any arrangement where one thing sits directly above another.
