optical distortion
Image warping effect
Optical distortion is the warping or bending of an image caused by imperfections in lenses, mirrors, or other optical systems.
Straight lines may appear curved, or objects near the edges of the frame may look stretched or compressed.
Common types include barrel distortion, where the image bulges outward, and pincushion distortion, where it pinches inward.
Photographers and filmmakers sometimes introduce distortion deliberately for artistic effect: The fisheye lens gave the skate video its signature distortion.
