Rendering less transparent
Opacifying means making something opaque or less transparent.
The term appears most often in technical contexts—cosmetics, ceramics, paints, and medical imaging—where substances are added to block light or radiation: opacifying agents in sunscreen, an opacifying powder in dental porcelain.
In radiology, opacifying describes contrast media that make internal structures visible on scans.
