old stager
Long-time practitioner
An old stager is someone with long experience in a particular field or activity—a veteran who knows all the tricks and pitfalls: The old stagers in the department showed the new hires how things really worked.
The term comes from theater, where a stager was an experienced actor who had spent many years on the stage.
