nose blindness
Olfactory adaptation phenomenon
Nose blindness is the inability to smell an odor you've been exposed to for a while.
The nose adapts to persistent smells, tuning them out—which is why you stop noticing your own home's scent or your perfume after wearing it: I had no idea my apartment smelled like cat until a friend mentioned it.
Air freshener commercials popularized the term.
