smell loss
Nose stops working
Smell loss is the partial or complete inability to detect odors, whether temporary or permanent.
It can result from illness, injury, aging, or neurological conditions.
The term gained wide currency during the COVID-19 pandemic, when sudden smell loss became a recognized symptom: I knew something was wrong when I experienced complete smell loss.
Also called anosmia in medical contexts.
