Mounted nocturnal terrorist
A nightrider is someone who rides at night, historically referring to members of vigilante groups—especially in the American South—who terrorized Black communities under cover of darkness: Nightriders burned crosses and attacked freedmen's homes.
The Ku Klux Klan were archetypal nightriders.
More neutrally, the term can describe anyone who travels or works at night.
