nightman

Graveyard shift employee

A nightman was a worker who emptied cesspits and outdoor toilets at night, when the smell and sight would least disturb residents.

The term is historical—indoor plumbing made the occupation obsolete.

In contemporary use, nightman simply means someone who works the night shift: The nightman at the front desk can help you.
