nerve centers
Brain's control stations
Nerve centers, in the literal sense, are clusters of neurons that control specific bodily functions—the brain and spinal cord being the body's primary nerve centers.
More commonly, the term describes headquarters or hubs where decisions are made and activity is coordinated: The trading floor is the nerve center of the financial district.
A nerve center is where information flows in and commands flow out.
