nerd culture
Geeks' shared world
Nerd culture encompasses the interests, communities, and social practices associated with traditionally "geeky" pursuits—comic books, video games, science fiction, fantasy, anime, tabletop gaming, and technology.
Once a marker of social marginality, nerd culture has become mainstream: Comic-Con draws hundreds of thousands of fans, Marvel movies dominate the box office.
The term implies both passionate expertise and a sense of in-group identity built around shared enthusiasms.
