natural historians
Wildlife and ecology documenters
Natural historians are people who study the natural world through observation and description—documenting plants, animals, minerals, and ecosystems.
The term evokes an older, more holistic approach to science, before specialization split the field into biology, geology, and ecology.
Darwin and Audubon were natural historians.
The natural historians of the 19th century cataloged species across every continent.
