narwhal tusks
Whale teeth, elongated
Narwhal tusks are the long, spiraling teeth that project from the heads of narwhals, Arctic whales sometimes called "sea unicorns." The tusk is actually an elongated canine tooth, growing up to ten feet and found almost exclusively on males.
Historically traded as unicorn horns, narwhal tusks appear in collections, folk art, and discussions of wildlife trafficking: The museum displayed a carved narwhal tusk.
