museum installations
Curated exhibition pieces
Museum installations are artworks or exhibits designed specifically for a particular gallery space, often large-scale and immersive.
Unlike portable art hung on walls, installations transform the room itself into part of the experience: The artist's installation filled three galleries with suspended mirrors and recorded whispers.
The term also covers the physical process of setting up any museum display.
