municipal tax
Local government revenue
A municipal tax is a tax levied by a local government—a city, town, or county—rather than by state or federal authorities.
Property taxes are the most common form, but municipalities may also impose local sales taxes, income taxes, or fees.
These revenues fund local services: schools, police, roads, and sanitation.
Our municipal taxes went up after they built the new library.
