moxa
Acupuncture's heat source
Moxa is a substance made from dried mugwort, burned on or near the skin in traditional East Asian medicine.
The practice, called moxibustion, is often combined with acupuncture to stimulate circulation and promote healing.
The practitioner applied moxa to several points along my spine.
