morning after pill
Post-coital pregnancy prevention
The morning after pill is emergency contraception taken shortly after unprotected sex to prevent pregnancy.
It works by delaying ovulation or preventing fertilization—not by terminating an existing pregnancy.
Most effective within 72 hours, though some formulations work up to five days after intercourse: She picked up the morning after pill at the pharmacy.
Also called Plan B after a common brand name.
