Plan B
Alternative if necessary
Plan B is a brand name for the emergency contraceptive levonorgestrel, taken after unprotected sex to prevent pregnancy.
Often called "the morning-after pill," it's most effective within 72 hours.
The name borrows from the general sense of backup plan—contraception when primary methods fail or weren't used: She picked up Plan B at the pharmacy. (Lowercase plan b is any backup strategy.)
