rhythm method

Calendar-based contraception

The rhythm method is a form of birth control based on avoiding sexual intercourse during a woman's fertile days.

Couples track menstrual cycles to identify when ovulation is likely, then abstain or use other contraception during that window.

The method is approved by the Catholic Church but has high failure rates compared to other contraception: They practiced the rhythm method and ended up with six kids.
