moral blindness
Conscience switched off
Moral blindness is the inability or failure to perceive ethical dimensions of a situation.
Someone with moral blindness may not recognize when their actions cause harm, or may rationalize behavior that others clearly see as wrong: His moral blindness allowed him to profit from exploitation without a second thought.
The term implies the capacity for moral sight exists but isn't being used—whether from self-interest, ideology, or simple obliviousness.
