mock debate
Rehearsal for candidates
A mock debate is a simulated debate conducted for practice, education, or entertainment rather than to settle an actual dispute.
Students participate in mock debates to develop argumentation skills, learn to defend positions they may not personally hold, and prepare for competitive debate formats: The class held a mock debate on capital punishment.
Mock debates also appear in political preparation, where candidates rehearse against stand-ins playing their opponents.
