congressional debate
Capitol floor dispute
Congressional debate is a competitive speech and debate format where students simulate legislative proceedings.
Participants alternate between giving speeches for or against a resolution and asking questions of other speakers.
Unlike other debate formats, congressional debate emphasizes parliamentary procedure, extemporaneous speaking, and the ability to engage with multiple opponents across extended sessions.
