mission field
Where missionaries serve
Mission field is the area or context where missionaries do their work, whether a geographic region or a population group.
Originally referring to foreign lands where Christian missionaries sought converts, the term now extends to any setting viewed as needing religious outreach: She felt called to the mission field in Southeast Asia.
Some use it metaphorically for secular causes: Silicon Valley is his mission field.
