Theater after hours
A midnight showing is a film screening that begins at or around midnight, typically on a movie's opening night.
These late-night premieres attract devoted fans eager to see a film before general audiences: We got tickets to the midnight showing of the new Star Wars.
The term also applies to regular midnight screenings of cult classics like *The Rocky Horror Picture Show*.
