mid-course correction
Redirect while moving
A mid-course correction is an adjustment made partway through a process or journey.
The term comes from spaceflight, where rockets adjust trajectory after launch to reach their target.
It now applies broadly to any significant change in strategy or direction once something is already underway: The campaign made a mid-course correction after poor polling numbers.
