messianic hope
Awaiting promised deliverer
Messianic hope is the expectation of a savior or deliverer who will bring about a transformed world.
The term originates in Jewish tradition—the hope for a coming Messiah who would restore Israel and establish God's kingdom.
Christianity applies it to Jesus Christ's return.
More broadly, messianic hope describes any fervent belief in a coming figure or force that will radically improve human conditions: The movement channeled messianic hope into political revolution.
