media elite
Influential news class
Media elite refers to influential figures in journalism, broadcasting, and entertainment who are perceived as wielding disproportionate power over public opinion.
The term is almost always pejorative, suggesting these insiders share liberal values and coastal lifestyles that disconnect them from ordinary citizens: The media elite don't understand middle America.
Critics use it to dismiss mainstream coverage as biased or out of touch.
