medal ceremonies
Winners receive recognition
Medal ceremonies are formal events where medals are presented to recipients, typically in athletic competitions.
Winners stand on a tiered podium—gold medalist highest in the center, silver and bronze flanking—while national anthems play and flags rise.
The format has become iconic through Olympic Games coverage: She cried during the medal ceremony.
