measuring wheel
Surveyor's rolling counter
A measuring wheel is a wheeled device rolled along the ground to measure distance.
The wheel's circumference is calibrated so each rotation equals a known length, typically displayed on a counter.
Surveyors, construction workers, and road crews use them to measure distances too long for a tape measure: He walked the property line with a measuring wheel.
Also called a surveyor's wheel or clickwheel.
