marine turtle
Ocean-dwelling shelled reptile
Marine turtles are sea-dwelling reptiles with flippers instead of legs, found in warm and temperate oceans worldwide.
Unlike their freshwater and land relatives, marine turtles spend nearly their entire lives at sea, returning to beaches only to lay eggs.
Seven species exist, including the loggerhead, green turtle, and leatherback—the largest, which can exceed six feet in length.
