A mansplainer is a man who explains things to women in a condescending way, assuming superior knowledge regardless of the woman's actual expertise.
The term implies the man wouldn't adopt the same tone with another man: He's such a mansplainer—she has a PhD in the subject and he's lecturing her about basics.
