lottery ball
Tumbling prize determiner
A lottery ball is one of the numbered spheres drawn at random to determine winning numbers in a lottery.
The balls tumble in a transparent drum or air-mix machine before selection, a visual spectacle meant to demonstrate fairness: We watched the lottery balls bounce around before the first one dropped.
In sports, lottery balls determine draft order for teams that missed the playoffs.
