losers bracket
Second-chance competition path
A losers bracket is the secondary track in a double-elimination tournament, where competitors go after their first loss.
Players in the losers bracket can still win the tournament by fighting their way back to the finals, but must win every remaining match: He dropped to the losers bracket in round two but came back to take the whole thing.
The term sometimes describes any secondary or less prestigious competition.
