championship bracket
Competition seeding diagram
A championship bracket is a diagram showing the structure of an elimination tournament, with competitors arranged in pairs and lines connecting winners to subsequent rounds until a final champion emerges.
The term appears constantly during March Madness, when millions fill out brackets predicting outcomes: My bracket was busted after the first upset.
Brackets can be single-elimination or double-elimination, where losing once doesn't end your run.
