loser bracket
Second-chance elimination path
A loser bracket is the secondary tournament bracket in double-elimination competitions, where defeated players or teams continue competing for a chance to reach the finals.
Losing once sends you to the loser bracket; losing there eliminates you entirely.
The loser bracket winner typically must beat the winner bracket champion twice to claim the title: They fought back through the loser bracket to win the whole tournament.
